A heat-producing laser that is being used on an
investigational basis to treat some cases of farsightedness
and/or astigmatism. The laser is directed to the peripheral
area of the cornea in order to heat and thereby shrink
corneal tissue in order to reshape the corneal central zone,
or visual axis, to correct the existing refractive eye
