Radial
Keratotomy (RK) - Lasik Term and Glossary
In recent years, the most widely used refractive surgery
procedure to correct mild to moderate cases of
nearsightedness and some cases of astigmatism. The procedure
involves the placement of patterned surgical incisions in
the peripheral area of the cornea in order to reshape the
cornea to the degree required to make the desired refractive
error correction. The process does not invade the central
zone, or visual axis, of the cornea.
